On October
26th, 2003 Sheba came to live with us. After Kelsey left us to cross
over the Rainbow Bridge we were lonesome for him and his
companionship. After a time we felt ready to re-open our hearts and
hoped for another dog who needed our love and friendship. We found
her at a rescue shelter, sitting in her pen quietly and watching all
the people who walked past. Some stopped and looked back at her but
she never moved. I like to think she was waiting for us. When Martin
stopped in front of her pen and said hello to her, she came to him
immediately putting her nose through the bars of the cage to be
petted. We walked about with her for several minutes and she seemed
comfortable with us as we were with her. All they could tell us
about her was that their veterinarian put her age at 18 months to 2
years, she was healthy and had come from a home where neither
partner could take her following a divorce. We got 'the
look'.......the look that says 'Please take me home and I will give
you all the love I have to give.' We didn't need to know anything
else. Please meet Sheba who in her own way has added so much to our
lives. She's a lovely girl and we are indeed fortunate that she
chose to give her love to us.
